Iran director, actor win awards at Venice film festival

Director Vahid Jalilvand and actor Navid Mohammadzadeh win awards at the Venice Int'l Film Festival, Italy.

Director Vahid Jalilvand and actor Navid Mohammadzadeh, both from Iran, have won awards at the Venice International Film Festival in Italy.

Jalilvand won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director for his film ‘No Date, No Signature’.

Also young actor Mohammadzadeh won the Orizzonti Award for Best Actor for starring in Jalilvand’s movie.

Hediyeh Tehrani, Amir Aqaei, Saeed Dakh, Alireza Ostadi and Navid Mohammadzadeh star in ‘No Date, No Signature’.

The movie narrates the story of Kaveh Nariman, a doctor who works at the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization. He has to examine the corpse of someone that he used to know in the past.

‘No Date, No Signature’ was premiered at the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival and received three Crystal Simorghs, including the best director, the best actor in a supporting role and the best sound awards.

Rakhshan Bani-Etemad is designated as a member of the jury panel at the Orizzonti (New Horizons) section of the event.

Founded in 1932, the Venice Film Festival or Venice International Film Festival (Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia) is the oldest film festival in the world and one of the Big Three film festivals alongside the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival.

The 74th edition of the Venice International Film Festival was held on August 30 to September 9, 2017.
